Ian Duddy, British Ambassador

"Expo Prado is one of Uruguay’s most important events, and I am delighted to confirm that the British Pavilion will be returning this year. In conjunction with our friends from the Uruguayan Rural Association (ARU), the British Embassy would like to invite you to join us in the British Pavilion, where we can support you to take advantage of the unique opportunities that Prado presents. As coronavirus has limited all of our interactions this year, Prado offers a fantastic opportunity to reconnect directly with the Uruguayan public, both in person and with an enhanced virtual presence. Within the British Pavilion, we look forward to supporting you not only to promote your British products and services, but also to highlight the many things that unite us: British breeds, business ties, culture, sports... and more! I very much hope that you will join us."

The 3rd LATAM Virtual Fair

Knowmads third Virtual Fair will take place from the 16th – 25th September 2020. With the added exposure of presenting at Expo Prado, where The British Embassy in Montevideo has given Knowmads a booth.

Expo Prado has over 450,000 visitors every year, and Knowmads will be part of their Education is “GREAT” campaign. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure and reach a large number of potential students in Uruguay and around the region.

Aside from being present at Expo Prado this year, the Virtual Fair will be broadcast regionally with the collaboration of British Embassies in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia and of course Uruguay with the support of the Ambassador, Chevening and embassy education and social media staff.

Why Uruguay?

While the majority of the world has struggled to get to grips with the Coronavirus pandemic, which has slowed business worldwide and put a stop to international travel. Uruguay has managed to contain and control the spread of COVID-19 so far with only a handful of cases, which means that out of all of South America, Uruguay is the only country that is open for business and tourism with Europe and specifically the UK.

What is Expo Prado

Expo Prado is the largest livestock fair and cultural event in Uruguay, held every September over 12 days, attracting 450,000 visitors every year. It has been running for more than 100 years and continues to be the place of choice for farmers to present their best breeding animals in competitions and to do business. Nowadays it is has expanded from its roots as a livestock event, to one that showcases products, brands, culture, food and entertainment not only from Uruguay but also from around the world.

British Pavilion

For the seventh year in a row, the Embassy will be present in Expo Prado with a British Pavilion. The Pavilion offers a platform for British products and companies, supporting them to increase sales, meet with new contacts and appraise the agricultural sector. It enjoys a prime location with high visibility and visitor numbers, an accompanying virtual presence with excellent social media exposure, and offers great potential to engage with customers and potential buyers.

The pavilion is a platform for British companies and represetatives to promote their products and services to more than 82,000 visitors from different parts of Uruguay.

The virtual Pavilion

This year, in order to reach a larger audience and follow the sanitary measures in place, the British Pavilion will also take place virtually. Through a specially created website, it will be possible to carry out virtual tours. We offer participants the chance to join the Pavilion's website with a 360 virtual tour of their stand, which will include an eCommerce option and/or the possibility to include links to their website. The virtual tour will be promoted across our social media channels, in which we have the following amount of followers:

What the sponsors say

Being part of this Pavilion is very important because of the number of people that visit, which gives us the opportunity to show all that Tienda Inglesa has to offer directly from Great Britain. We also have the possibility of having a face-tofacecontact with our customers, and that is something we value a lot. Patricia Miller, Tienda Inglesa

Being part of the Pavilion has been a great experience for us. The fact that the Uruguayan public identifies our brand as British is very important to us. We have managed to reach an audience that is different to the one that usually visits our stores, and that is a great success. Diego Grenno, Royal County of Berkshire Polo

Our experience at the British Pavilion in the last three years has been a great success. It has helped us position our brand. A very good experience and very profitable for those who want to take part. Óscar Arrambide, Doulton
